Plastic Drums for Industrial Storage

Everything you need to know about plastic storage drums to optimize your industrial processes

What Are Plastic Storage Drums?

Los plastic drums are high-strength containers made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), designed for the safe storage and transport of liquids and solids in industrial, commercial and food applications.

En Glovesa, with more than 30 years of experience in the plastics industry, we manufacture drums from top-quality, food-grade raw material that undergoes strict quality control before reaching the customer.

Each unit is produced by the blow molding process, ensuring uniform walls and optimal structural strength.

Why choose plastic drums?

  • Chemical resistance:Compatible with organic and inorganic acids, alkaline solutions, solvents and flammable products.
  • Service life of over 20 years:HDPE does not corrode, does not degrade with moisture and keeps its properties for decades.
  • FDA-certified food grade: Free of phthalates and BPA. Suitable for storing drinking water, food and products for human consumption.
  • Versatility:Multiple capacities and configurations available

Types of Plastic Drums by application

We manufacture drums in different lid and closure configurations according to the industrial or food use you require.

Screw-Top Drum

Airtight closure with screw lid and gasket. The most versatile model in the line: suitable for olives, drinking water, reactive chemicals and alkaline solutions.

Two-Mouth Drum

One large mouth for filling and a small Alcoa-type one for venting. Designed for flammable products, reactive chemicals or any liquid that requires flow control and ventilation.

L-Ring Drum

Two mouths with an airtight threaded plug and a reinforced base for rolling during transport. Available with a valve cap for substances that generate gases.

Anchovy Drum

Extra-wide mouth for easy loading, inspection and cleaning. The standard of the Peruvian fishing industry for salted-dried products, marine inputs, pulp and pastes.

Spider Drum - With Spout

The largest capacity in the line. The With-Spout model includes a tap with a regulating handle to dispense liquids directly without tipping the container.

What are Plastic Drums used for?

From drinking water to industrial chemicals. HDPE is the go-to material for multiple industries.

Bulk Industrial Storage

For operations that require large volumes of liquid, drums of 200 liters or more offer the necessary capacity with the structural strength of HDPE.

Olive and Fishing Industry

Our blue plastic drums are widely used for the storage and transport of olives, salted-dried products, marine inputs and pastes in the Peruvian food industry.

Chemical and Industrial Products

HDPE is highly resistant to organic and inorganic acids,
alkaline solutions,
reagents and solvents.

Oil, Lubricants and Additives

Plastic drums are ideal for storing industrial oil, hydraulic oil, lubricants and additives. Their resistance to grease and the impermeability of HDPE prevent cross-contamination.

Drums for Drinking Water

HDPE plastic drums are the most practical solution for storing and transporting drinking water in homes, construction sites, tanker trucks and hard-to-reach areas. Their BPA-free material ensures the water is not contaminated.

Cleaning and Pharmaceutical Products

FDA certification and the absence of BPA make our drums the preferred choice for storing industrial detergents, disinfectants, pharmaceutical products, foliar fertilizer and adjuvants.

Construction Materials: Polyethylene vs. Other Materials

High-density polyethylene is the preferred material for manufacturing industrial drums thanks to its unique properties:

Material Comparison

Feature Polyethylene (PE) Fiberglass Steel Concrete

Frequently Asked Questions

What are plastic drums and what are they used for?
Plastic drums are containers made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) designed for the safe storage and transport of liquids and solids. They are used in the food industry (olives, water, marine products), the chemical industry (acids, alkaline solutions, reagents) and agriculture. Their material ensures chemical resistance, a service life of over 20 years and FDA certification for food contact.
Glovesa plastic drums are available in capacities of 50, 70, 80, 120, 170, 225, 230 and 280 liters. The most common capacity for domestic and light industrial use is the 80-liter drum. For heavy industry and bulk transport, drums of 200 to 280 liters are used.

The screw-top drum uses a threaded system with a gasket to achieve an airtight seal, ideal for liquids that require complete tightness. The drum with a band also incorporates a plastic band with a lock that reinforces the closure, frequently used for solids or semi-solids such as olives. Both systems ensure airtightness; the band adds extra protection against accidental opening.

It depends on the model: 50- and 70-liter drums can be stacked up to 3 units with contents. The 80- and 120-liter ones allow 2+1 levels by placing a plywood sheet between tiers. The 225-liter L-Ring drums stack in 2 levels on pallets. It is always recommended to use plywood separators to distribute the weight and prevent deformation.

  • Lighter weight: makes manual handling easier and reduces freight costs
  • They do not corrode: HDPE is immune to oxidation and to attack by most acids
  • Initial cost significantly lower than plastic barrels or higher-quality metal ones
  • Local manufacturing in Chorrillos, Lima: shorter delivery times and direct technical support
  • Available in multiple capacities: from 50-liter drums hasta 280-liter drums
  • Food grade for drinking water drums and human-consumption applications
